Monthly decluttering events are important to the beginner as well as one who has been doing Marilyn’s Way Home Keeping Made SIMPLE system since I started the closed Facebook group Marilyn’s Way in October of 2010. I tried different monthly events through the years until I settled on the ones that are today. It is important that the most used room of the home the kitchen, clothing and paper clutter be addressed twice a year. Having these three areas of your home in good order helps you with the rest. Specific months have specific events and are held according to the time of year when these areas need it the most.
There are four quarters to a year with each quarter equaling three months. The entire system is based on groups of three. Why may you ask? It is the most we can remember simultaneously at once. Experts call it our ‘Working Memory’
The Following Are The Monthly Events

Monthly events are meant to be done after you have completed 9 Daily Habits , weekly habits, Weekly Home Tidy and zone work first. Many of these are done in a matter of minutes and some may actually overlap each other. It is vital to work this system in the order of importance first and you know what that means, doing things like getting dressed to shoes, washing dishes and laundry need to be done first. To this day I still don’t like doing them most days. Having said it, I know the importance of them if I want the rest of my life to run smoothly on a day to day basis.
